I agree that their presentation was unique and got the class involved. I also agree with Lizzy though and 1984 was not an easy read, which is making our presentation a little more difficult to organize.

I agree about the presentations, especially incorporating the movie. I have to say though, 1984 was nnoott an easy read!

I agree with both of you. It really made me take a step back and put put my mind into a fifth grade setting. I really enjoyed their presentation! It also made me want to go and watch the movie just by seeing that small little clip. It’s amazing how a presentation like that can give you such a great overview of the book. It was very well done!

I couldnt agree with you more! I think the way that that group opened up thier presenation was great! It made me want to go out and see the movie to! Its on my to do list now!!

This is very true i feel that grammer is one thing that teachers really need to focus on because it is a huge thing. I agree that these standarized test really do nothing for children basically its just so the teacher has a grade to give them.

Wow, this book sounds really good yet sad. I could never imagine living in a family like that. However, it is good to read a book like this because it opens your eyes a little more to what some people suffer and live with everyday. I think reading this book would be a good learning experience for everyone.

I think this sounds like such a cool book. This was my first choice and i didnt get it. I was kind of diappointed when i found that out. I would have loved to read it. I guesss im just going to have to read it on my own sometime.

I think that after reading the book it opens your eyes to things that can happen in the classroom. You state in your blog that your own observations will influence your teachings that this book was written in previous years and things have changed. But have times really changed? As a teacher you have so many stanndards to live up to and requirements to teach and you see teachers who just lecture and you see some that are hands on. So although times have changed I feel that the banking concept to education exists and although we try to avoid it there are still cases where we use it in classrooms.

I agree and I’m glad we discuss what we are reading. I feel if we didn’t have class discussion I would be completely lost. I think you also brought up a great point and we need to bring our own ideas into the classroom, however, I think reading other perspectives opens our minds. We might not agree with these ideas completely, but these ideas to make us think about our own opinions and ideas more.

Yes, i was also confused and didnt quite understand what was happening until we had that class discussion! I think that it is so important for teachers to let thier students fill them with knowledge as well!!
